Toddler-Friendly Picinc Ideas

As soon as summer arrives, my family and I rush outside to make the most of the warm weather and beautiful outdoors. With my daughter, by my side, I understand the importance of providing nutritious yet tasty meals for our tiny adventurers during our outdoor excursions. Today, I’m going to share some fantastic picnic ideas that have worked wonders for us during the first half of summer.

1. Sprout Organic Baby Food – Wafflez: These delightful treats are a must-have for any picnic. They remind me of Italian pizzelles, but with a twist! Available in various flavors, Sophia’s favorite is the Pumpkin Butter and Jelly, made with pumpkin seed butter instead of peanuts. It’s not only delicious but also peanut-free, making it a safe option for picnics with other children who may have peanut allergies.

2. Chopped Fruits and Veggies: A picnic is never complete without a variety of fruits and veggies. I find that when Sophia is surrounded by other kids, she gets excited to munch on her veggies. Our go-to picks include juicy strawberries, refreshing cucumber slices, sweet blueberries, and vibrant yellow and orange peppers. Though Sophia isn’t a fan of dips, a side of hummus could be a great addition for those little ones who enjoy dipping.

3. Mini Egg Bite Quiches: Originally prepared for my husband and me as a quick breakfast or healthy snack, these bite-sized quiches have quickly become a picnic favorite for Sophia. I pre-cut them at home and store them in a tupperware in the cooler box, especially on scorching hot days.

4. Greenfield Natural Meat Co. Natural Lunch Kits: These lunch kits are the healthier version of the lunchables we grew up with. Perfect to keep in the fridge and grab for last-minute park outings, these lunch kits make for a convenient and nutritious picnic choice.

5. Pinwheel Wraps: Quick and hassle-free, pinwheel wraps are a hit with little ones. I either whip up a chicken salad filling and assemble the wraps or simply spread some turkey and cheese for a speedy roll-up. Then, I slice them into little medallions, making it easy for Sophia to enjoy.

With these picnic ideas, our family embarks on outdoor adventures, creating cherished memories and savoring the magic of summer in Toronto. Whether it’s a family outing or a playdate with friends, these toddler-friendly and healthy picnic treats are sure to keep your little one satisfied and happy.

So, pack your picnic basket, gather your loved ones, and embrace the joy of fun outdoor activities with nourishing, delicious treats. Wishing you happy picnicking and a joyful summer!
